Kitchen Tune-Up

 

     WellsFest will be held on Saturday, September 28, at Jamie Fowler Boyll Park at 1398 Lakeland Drive (next to Smith-Wills Stadium) in Jackson. The WellsFest 5K Run & Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run will kick off the festival at 8 a.m. There will be food, children’s activities, a pet parade at 9:30 a.m., live nonstop music on two stages, vendors and much more until 4:30 p.m.

 

     This year’s event will be a fundraiser for Extra Table, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to feeding the hungry. Founded 10 years go by Mississippi chef and restaurateur Robert St. John, Extra Table stocks food pantries and soup kitchens across Mississippi with wholesome, nutritious food. Jackson-area food pantries and soup kitchens that receive food from Extra Table include Stewpot Community Services, Gateway Rescue Mission, MadCAAP, Jackson State University and Tougaloo College. Each dollar raised from WellsFest will provide two to two-and-a-half fresh, healthy meals.

 

     Prior to Saturday, WellsFest Art Night will be held on Tuesday, September 24, at Duling Hall in Fondren; and the WellsFest Golf Tournament the afternoon of Wednesday, September 25, at Whisper Lake Golf Club in Madison. Call 601-353-0658 or visit wellsfest.org for more information
