Tracey Dejuan Dixon, son of David and Timeka Dixon of Terry, Mississippi, recently departed for the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School in Colorado Springs. Upon successful completion of a one-year program of academic and military preparation, he will attend the United States Air Force Academy to prepare for a career as an Air Force officer.
Tracey graduated from Terry High School in May, where he completed four years in the Army JROTC program. As a senior, Tracey was selected as Mr. JROTC and served as the battalion’s second-in-command with the rank of Cadet Major. He received the Superior Cadet Award, the Army JROTC Leadership Ribbon, and numerous additional awards.
Above all, Tracey gives glory to God for guiding him throughout his journey. He extends heartfelt gratitude to his family, his church family and Pastor Dion F. Porter at Terry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, girlfriend Alana Cutrer, mentors, teachers, and friends who have encouraged him. Tracey is also especially grateful to Congressman Bennie G. Thompson for providing the congressional recommendation that made this opportunity possible.
Tracey’s favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 (KJV): “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” He even purchased a tote bag displaying the scripture to carry with him as a daily reminder of God’s strength and faithfulness.
As Tracey looks toward the future with faith, determination, humility, and a heart for service, he is prepared to pursue his dreams and make a positive impact wherever God leads him.
