Heart disease remains one of the leading health concerns across Mississippi, making access to advanced cardiovascular care more important than ever. At FMOL Health | St. Dominic, continued investment in expert physicians and specialized services is helping strengthen the future of heart care for patients throughout central Mississippi.

That commitment recently grew stronger with the addition of Dr. Craig Adams, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with more than 30 years of experience in complex heart and thoracic surgery. His arrival expands the depth of expertise available through St. Dominic’s Mississippi Heart and Vascular Institute and provides patients with greater access to advanced surgical care close to home.

Dr. Adams specializes in a wide range of procedures, including coronary artery bypass surgery, heart-valve repair and replacement, and surgical treatment of diseases affecting the chest, lungs, and major blood vessels. His extensive background allows St. Dominic to continue offering sophisticated cardiovascular services while meeting the region’s growing needs.

For patients and families, that means access to highly specialized care without having to leave Mississippi. It also means greater confidence that experienced cardiovascular teams are available when complex conditions require advanced treatment.

“Dr. Adams is a highly respected surgeon whose depth of experience enhances our cardiovascular program,” says Jeremy Tinnerello, regional president of FMOL Health | St. Dominic and FMOL Health | St. Francis. “His expertise supports our ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and ensures patients have access to advanced heart care close to home.”

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Adams brings a strong record of physician leadership. Throughout his career, he has served as chief of staff, chairman of surgery, director of cardiothoracic surgery, and director of cardiac surgery at hospitals across Mississippi and beyond. His experience helps strengthen not only patient care but also the continued growth of St. Dominic’s cardiovascular services.

For Dr. Adams, joining St. Dominic is an opportunity to combine advanced medicine with faith-based service.

“As a follower of Christ, I value caring for patients with integrity and humility,” he said. “I am grateful to practice medicine in a setting where faith and service are deeply connected. I look forward to serving alongside this team to deliver advanced cardiovascular care to our community.”

As St. Dominic celebrates 80 years of serving Mississippi communities, the addition of Dr. Adams reflects a continued commitment to expanding access to exceptional care. Together with the cardiovascular team, he will help advance the hospital’s mission of delivering compassionate, high-quality heart care for generations to come.
