Looking for something different in a devotional book? Maybe drawing or sketching connects you to God better than a word study. Do you like a specific focus for a short time period instead of a single book for a year? Or perhaps you’d just like to try something a little different in your time with the Lord. If any of these thoughts fit, one of these two creative journals, 30 Days to Joy or 30 Days to Peace, may be just what you need.

Inside you’ll find a prompt for each day, along with a quote, either from Scripture or a well-known person, to get you started. How you respond is up to you. Some suggest drawing or sketching, others writing a poem or a description, but no method is right or wrong. Rather do photography? Choose what works best for you.

The compilers also encourage you to create your own playlist of music that extends your experience of the main topic. Once you’ve finished your thirty days, the last pages offer a final opportunity to consider how your perception has changed and where to go from here.

The book itself is a nicely bound small hardback with a ribbon marker you can keep as part of your library. In a twist on how books usually tell you about the author, you have your own pages to fill in for yourself. Either title is a good choice for those who find creativity brings them closer to God.
