Christian Leaders Who Have Most Impacted My Life

The ones that have most impacted my life are my mom and dad. My mom is very compassionate and believes in the power of prayer. She has taught me that being a Christian is something that you are every day, everywhere that you go. My dad has taught me how to be resilient, to pray about everything, and always remember that God is in control. My mom’s friend, Pamela Cotton, has also inspired me. She had a vision to start a women’s ministry. My mom helped her to get it started and together they founded Divinely Driven Ministries, which was created to empower women to be virtuous (Proverbs 31) and to find God’s direction and purpose for their lives. Watching them lead other women to God has shown me to never be afraid to step out and make a difference in the world. They both have very busy schedules but they take time to plan teas,

workshops and conferences to minister to other women to help them become closer to God. I admire their boldness and have been inspired to follow in their footsteps.

Activities and Service to Others

At School I am currently serving as Beta Club President. Last year I served as Vice President of the Spanish Club. I am a member of the Marching Band and I am 2nd chair clarinet in the Symphonic Band. I am also a member of the Colorguard in the marching band. I am Co-Student Director of the Not Here Club Gospel Choir. I am also a member of the Women’s Competition Choir. I was also elected Senior Maid in the 2013-2014 Homecoming Court. At church, I am a member of the Youth Ministry, the Usher Ministry, the Youth Choir, and the Mass Choir. I am also in the Dance Ministry where I serve as one of the youth leaders and as a choreographer. In the community, I also volunteer with Mississippi Families For Kids and serve as a mentor for the Rated PG Girls group, as well as volunteer for many other community organizations. I love to sing and I feel that God has blessed me with a voice to sing his praises. Over the years, I have been involved with several youth gospel praise teams. I am currently a member of “TEAM G (God)”. We minister throughout the community praising, worshipping, and witnessing to others through song.

Future Plans

I have always been taught to give back to others and that is why I believe that the Lord is calling me to pursue a career in Speech Pathology. This will also allow me to help those challenged and not able to fully express their selves. Colossians 4:6 states “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” How we communicate and express ourselves is so much of who we are. Everyone deserves to know how to speak and not be ashamed because of other issues.
