Favorite Scripture

My favorite Bible passage is Philippians 2:1-18. In here, Paul constructs a beautifully written letter of encouragement to the church. He starts with commands to the Philippians to love one another and work together in unity; to be humble and think of others. He moves on and gives the example of Jesus Christ knowing he is God, does not think of this equality something to cling to, instead humbles himself to the cross and dies a criminal’s death. And then Paul finishes the passage with the results of Christ’s death on the cross. This passage shows a wonderful image of Christ’s love for us. It encourages me to live a humble life, considering others before myself—a great example of how we should follow in Christ’s footsteps.

Activities and Service to Others

At The Veritas School, I currently serve as student body Co-President. I tutored students in Latin and also was privileged to be an assistant teacher in Latin. I am a student leader of FCA. I founded and led the Missions Club, where members have taken trips to We Will Go Ministries in downtown Jackson and to nursing homes. I also served as a delegate to Mississippi’s Youth Legislature. I have volunteered at Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital. I am an advocate for Compassion International and have managed sponsorship booths at local concerts and led my own at my school. In my church, I am an active leader in the youth department, leading small groups of girls on Sunday nights, and for which I am in charge of our sponsored child from Ecuador. I have taken mission trips with my youth group to Alabama and South Carolina. On Friday afternoons, I go to George Elementary School to share the gospel with the students.

Future Plans

The Lord has called me to a career of serving others. I am passionate about missions and want to travel the world, but I also want to see a change in the hearts of people in my own country. I would like to pursue a career in Social Work here in the U.S., and hopefully someday move on to countries around the world. I have a passion for the poor and orphaned, and I am enthusiastic to begin work in my field.
