There’s something deeply personal about being seen. Not just noticed in passing, but known, understood, and considered.
One thing I love about my husband is his ability to make me feel fully seen and known. Like when I’m stirring a boiling pot of noodles, with children at my feet, and he walks through the door holding my favorite snack or treat. Not because I asked, not because it was convenient, but because he saw it and considered me.
It isn’t about the snack. It’s about being seen and known.
If that kind of thoughtfulness can come from a human heart, how much more intentional is the heart of our Father? The God who created you is deeply aware of every detail that makes you, you. Your rhythms, your struggles, your preferences, your desires – none are overlooked. “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” – Psalm 139:1.
But so many of us have lost awareness of this.
For a long time, I struggled to see God’s loving kindness in one specific area: food. It was something to control, restrict, or feel guilty about. What was created for nourishment became something I feared. I believed the lie that food was “working against me” … that it was the reason I couldn’t measure up.
However, that was Satan twisting the truth and making me question God’s goodness – a reversed “Eve moment.” Instead of whispering, “Eat,” he whispered, “Don’t eat.” I found myself depleted and malnourished, physically and spiritually.
Because God knows His sheep, He reigned me back in and spoke truth into my heart. The same God who formed your body also created what fuels it. Food was designed to help you.
To nourish.
To sustain.
To bring enjoyment.
To support the body He knit together with intention.
When I began to shift my perspective, instead of seeing food as something to battle, I began to receive it as a gift. Just like that snack brought home after a long day.
Food became less about fear and more about being seen. Because if God knows what my body needs, then I can trust that what He created is for my good.
This doesn’t mean we abandon wisdom or discipline.
It means we anchor them in truth instead of fear.
We move our bodies, not to punish them, but to steward them.
We fuel our bodies, not with guilt, but with gratitude.
We choose consistency, not out of pressure, but out of purpose.
Because we are not trying to fix something God got wrong.
We are caring for something He created right.
Being seen by God changes everything.
You are not overlooked in your journey. He sees it all, and not only does He see you, He considers you.
So the next time you sit down to eat, pause. Not to calculate, criticize, or control, but to receive. To remember that this moment — this nourishment — is not random. It’s provision. It’s a quiet reminder from a loving Father who knows you fully and cares for you personally.
You were never meant to live at war with what God called good. You were created to live seen, known, and sustained by Him. Let that truth change how you view food and your identity.
