In its latest accreditation survey, CARF International recognized St. Catherine’s Village for its exceptional leadership, financial strength, employee engagement, and unwavering commitment to quality care.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026, CARF International has evolved into one of the world’s leading accrediting bodies for health and human services. When a program or service is CARF-accredited, it means it has passed an in-depth review and meets rigorous CARF guidelines — a qualified endorsement that it conforms to internationally recognized person-centered standards and is focused on ongoing performance improvement.

With a 160-acre campus in Madison, St. Catherine’s is the first retirement community in Mississippi to earn accreditation by CARF, and it has now become a Legacy Partner. This year’s survey highlights the Life Care Community’s nearly four decades of service, along with its outstanding reputation.

Surveyors praised St. Catherine’s wooded and lushly landscaped campus, ongoing investment in renovations and amenities, and thoughtful long-range planning that continues to enhance the resident experience. CARF also recognized the organization’s strong governance, noting its highly engaged board of directors and experienced leadership team, many of whom have developed their careers within the organization.

The report commended St. Catherine’s for its culture of teamwork and employee retention, citing an exceptionally low staff turnover rate, competitive compensation and benefits, robust professional development opportunities, and an inclusive workplace that fosters long-term commitment. CARF noted that these efforts contribute to consistent, high-quality care and meaningful relationships between residents and staff. Often, residents themselves volunteer their time and talents in an effort to engage those in higher levels of care.

The survey also recognized St. Catherine’s strategic vision and operational excellence, highlighting its use of innovative planning tools, data-driven performance improvement processes, and successful integration with its sponsoring health system to expand services and improve resident care. Recent initiatives, including a new food-service partnership, on-campus medical services, and expanded specialty care, further demonstrate the organization’s commitment to meeting residents’ evolving healthcare needs. In skilled nursing, physicians are credentialed at the local hospital and frequently work alongside emergency room staff to ensure continuity of care and treatment for each resident.

Financial stewardship was another area of distinction for St. Catherine’s. CARF placed the organization above the 75th percentile of accredited continuing care retirement communities nationwide — an indication of exceptional financial stability and long-term sustainability.

Overall, the CARF survey affirms St. Catherine’s commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and providing an exceptional living experience where residents enjoy security, outstanding care, and a vibrant community supported by dedicated professionals.

As Madison’s pre-eminent all-inclusive Life Care Community, St. Catherine’s Village offers the full spectrum of senior living options: independent living in apartments and garden homes, assisted living in Marian Hall, memory care in Campbell Cove, and skilled nursing in Siena Center, Tuscany, and Hughes Center.
