Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in Mississippi

From hometown gatherings to statewide events, Mississippians have many ways to join the nationwide America250 celebration of our nation’s founding, happening throughout 2026.
Communities across the country are marking America’s 250th birthday with events, service projects, educational programs, and public installations that reflect our nation’s shared story. Here in our state, America250 Mississippi and our partners are bringing that spirit to life through a full spectrum of events and initiatives that tell the story of our state and its people.
One of the signature celebrations will be United in Song: An America250 Mississippi Celebration, coming to the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on June 20. This event will bring together adult and children’s choirs, a full orchestra, contemporary musical performances, and inspiring guest speakers for a powerful tribute to freedom, faith, and our American story. It promises to be one of Mississippi’s most memorable moments of the semiquincentennial year.
Mississippi will also have a major presence in Washington, D.C., during the Great American State Fair, taking place June 25 through July 10 on the National Mall. Visitors from across the country will experience Mississippi through a dedicated exhibit space featuring displays and video that showcase our arts, culture, heritage, and the many contributions Mississippians have made to our nation’s legacy.
There are many other ways to get involved in America250. Churches, schools, civic organizations, and community groups can host gatherings, concerts, educational programs, or volunteer service days. You can also volunteer at events or assist local organizers to support activities in your community. Local leaders and organizations are encouraged to share their own events and ideas as part of the statewide effort. Every community, large or small, can play a meaningful role in this important celebration.
At its heart, America250 is much more than just a historic milestone. It is a chance to reflect on the people and moments that shaped our nation, celebrate the communities that define us today, and help build a stronger future for the next generation.

Rent from U-SAVE Car & Truck Rental

Renting a car for a vacation is often better than driving your own or relying on other transport. It saves wear and tear on your car, gives you access to the perfect type of vehicle for your trip (think SUVs for mountains, convertibles for beaches), and allows you to test out a new car model you might be curious about. Also, rental companies regularly service their vehicles, so you’re less likely to run into mechanical issues. Finally, depending on gas prices and the efficiency of the rental, it can actually be cheaper than using your own vehicle — especially if yours isn’t fuel-efficient or you’d otherwise need to pay for maintenance after a long trip.
If you’d like help figuring out what kind of rental would suit your trip, or tips on finding deals, call 601-957-8728, email jacksonmsmanager@rentusave.com, or visit usavejackson.com for more information.
