Hope Conference Lighting the Way to Cancer Survivorship

If you or someone you love has faced cancer, you know the untold hours spent googling and researching an overwhelming body of information in an effort to cope physically and emotionally. The “C” word does rock one’s world.

Fifteen years ago Clinton resident Susan Mason, a cancer survivor, began The Hope Conference in Mississippi to bring together cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and health providers to share information and to educate each other on the many facets of life affected by cancer’s intrusion.

The Hope Conference is free and open to everyone. Held in the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church Jackson, there are breakout sessions led by professionals who treat specific cancers, counsel patients and families in the psychological, emotional, and spiritual struggles, and available resources that lighten the load. There are also cancer survivors who share their experiences during a panel discussion.

Keynote speaker at the luncheon following the morning sessions will be Jay Hopson, USM Head Football Coach who is a two-time cancer survivor and a man whose Christian faith will inspire all who hear his story. The conference on March 4 will be from 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Visit hopeconferencejackson.com for more info.
