“America is at a crossroads, and I believe we should take every opportunity to stand up for the things of God and His Word. The most important thing we can do as Christians is to pray. ” So said Franklin Graham four months ago when he announced that he would travel to all 50 states in 2016 to hold prayer rallies on the steps of every state capitol challenging believers to take a stand, to pray, to vote for candidates who stand for biblical values, and to engage in their communities.

Community Outreach 1Four months into the tour, Graham has kept a rigorous schedule. His passion is NOT politics, but it IS America and her future as the “One nation under God” that is slipping away. His big blue tour bus has been to more than ten states, and thousands have turned out at every event waving the American flag, bowing their heads, joining hands, and looking very much like the Church as the Church was meant to be. From the tropical climate in Honolulu to the chilly temperatures in Santa Fe and Denver, young, old, Black, white, and every ethnicity you can name, have joined hands to pray. “Diversity,” the new politically correct mantra of our secular culture, has never looked as effective, peaceful and united as the crowds at the Decision rallies.

Graham stresses that he will endorse no candidate and no party. What he is endorsing is prayer and a serious consideration of how each candidate’s positions line up with biblical values. I don’t think this is a year when it is going to be really easy. The secular bent of the entire culture has crept into every segment of American life. All the more reason to do some soul searching before you cast a ballot and all the more reason to get on our knees, humble ourselves, pray, and seek HIS face. This is a moment in time when we all need wisdom beyond our human wisdom.

However, John 15:5 says, “Apart from me, you can do nothing.” It seems like a no-brainer. We need to invite God back into the conversation.

Join me, and a lot of other believers, on the steps of our capitol at 400 High Street at noon on April 13.
