Favorite Scripture

“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me, your love, O Lord, endures forever—do not abandon the works of your hands,” (Psalms 138:8). This is my favorite Bible verse because it promises me that God has a plan for my life. As a senior, this is especially reassuring that even though my plans might sometimes be questionable, I can rely on God’s plan and purpose for my future. My life has meaning; God made me with a purpose and put me where I am for a reason. There is nothing that we can do to separate us from the love of Christ. It is not like human love, which can be changing and unfaithful, but is instead unchanging, dependable, and forever long.

Christian Leaders Who Have Most Impacted My Life

The two most influential Christian leaders in my life would be my dad and my grandmother. My dad has shown me how a man should support his family and be the spiritual leader of the house. He exceeds his role as the breadwinner of our family and always unselfishly puts the needs of the family above his own personal needs. Even though his rules can seem unfair at times, he is always looking out for my best interest. He leads my family in prayer before every meal and frequently talks to me about how to stand up for Christ in this fallen world. In his talks, he also gives me advice from a Biblical perspective about relationships, college, and how to pursue my goals in life. I hope that my future spouse exhibits these same Christian principles. My grandmother is a perfect picture of Christian servanthood. The Bible clearly expects us to serve the Lord by serving others. Roughly 10 years ago, her sister was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. My grandmother has selflessly and faithfully taken care of every need her sister has had since the diagnosis. I never hear a complaint or a foul word come out of her mouth. She has taught me how a respectable young lady should act, and tells me about her struggles as a young adult and how to resist temptation that can so easily entangle us. She demonstrates the caring, compassionate, dependable, and supportive role a woman should have.

Future Plans

I believe that the Lord is calling me to be a pilot. As I continue to walk with the Lord, He has given me the desire to want to fly. This past spring I took a flying lesson and knew from then on that flying is what I wanted to do. Flying in the U.S. Air Force would be a dream turned to reality. I would get to travel and see the world in different ways than most people. I only have one life so I want to live it to the fullest and in the most exciting way possible. I believe that God is taking me down the path of becoming a pilot.
