Favorite Scripture

“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity,” (1 Timothy 4:12). I like this passage because it encourages me to remember that I don’t have to wait until I am an adult to make a difference. I think the things listed in this verse are all areas where young people struggle, but our world needs more young people who will stand up for our beliefs, speak, live, love, and live out our faith in purity through example.

Activities and Service to Others

I am involved in varsity soccer, tennis, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In my community, I participate in various special events such as “Kickin’ for a Cure” and Restoration Hope’s “Wet and Wild for Hope” with my select soccer team, Mississippi Fire. At church, I am involved in my youth group, but I am primarily involved in missions programs. I believe this is the area of service to which we are all called, and I don’t want to wait until I’m an adult to serve Jesus by serving others. I have been on mission trips to Brazil, New Orleans, Chicago, and Haiti. Everything I am involved in is important to me, but missions work is the most important thing I do.

Future Plans

I believe God is calling me to a career in some kind of sports medicine. I am an athlete because God made me that way. He has blessed me by giving me strength and exceptional abilities in my sport. Because of this, I can relate to athletes well and I am interested in learning how the body works and how to recover from common injuries experienced by athletes. I think I can use my career to minister to young athletes throughout my life and show them that it is cool to be an athlete and love Jesus, too.
