It’s time to Bloom!

Kitchen Tune-Up

Spring has sprung, and The Garden Club of Jackson is welcoming florist Bruno Duarte to The Country Club of Jackson for Bloom!, brunch and floral demonstration, on Wednesday, April 24.

Bruno grew up surrounded by flowers on a farm in Madeira, a group of islands off the coast of Morocco — where the average temperature ranges from about 60 to 70 degrees year round. So naturally, he brings a touch of spring wherever he goes, including his studio in Toronto (where the weather is not always so ideal).

His work has caught the eye of celebs such as Renée Zellweger and Patti LaBelle, and he contributes regularly to magazines in Canada, Australia and the United States.

Bloom! begins at 10 a.m. with brunch, followed by Bruno’s floral demonstration. During the demonstration, he will create 10 arrangements to be raffled off (containers included!) at the end of the program.

Bloom! tickets are $60 and can be purchased at GardenClubOfJackson.com or by calling 601.209.4039 or 601.946.2083. Attendees can purchase raffle tickets for $10 at the door, and must be present to win.

Proceeds from Bloom! will benefit the purposes of The Garden Cub of Jackson: civic improvement, conservation, gardening, horticulture and floral design.

Members of the planning committee are (seated, from left): Eleanor Anthony, Libby Kendall, June Stone, Kandy Sims and Margaret Scott. Standing, from left: Melinda Ray, Collette McIntyre, Lyn McMillin, Ingrid Taylor, Katie Breese and Nan Graves Goodman.
